Door County

I think by now, most people know that I grew up in South West Michigan, and spent as much time as possible on the shores of Lake Michigan.  I can't tell you how many times I made the fast cruise down m-43 to hang out once I had a license to drive! My first date with my husband was at South Haven, and it was on a boat cruise on that great lake in Saugatuck that I fell in love with him.

My dad used to fish at the dam in Elk Rapids, and I used to spend countless hours strolling along the nearby beach, picking up shells, chasing seagulls and throwing stones.

A few years ago, we discovered the beautiful area of Door County, Wisconsin.  Nestled on the peninsula a mere hour North East of Green Bay.  It's an oasis of calm and relaxation that my family looks forward to every summer.

We always stay at the Alpine Lodge and Golf Resort, where Gus der Schweitzerboob happily greats guests.  We rent a cabin so we have space and our own place to "hang".  It's quaint.  If you're looking for a 4-star resort, this isn't it.  This is the German-themed resort reminiscent of the Kellerman resort from the movie "Dirty Dancing".  Where else do you get evening dances, concerts, Bingo night and a Hay ride complete with a marshmallow roasting bonfire?

For a week every year, we all get to enjoy the slow nature of a "quaint" vacation.  Believe me, I wouldn't want it any other way!

While I would LOVE to go to Door County with your family and capture your family's memories, why don't we save the trip and take portraits here in the great state of Minnesota.  End of summer sessions are being booked now.  Contact me for a special offer!

And this last one?  It's from the world famous Al Johnson's restaurant in Sister Bay.  They're know for GREAT food, amazing service, and yep, goats on the roof!
