Happy Halloween

or

Oh My Gosh!

Wow, so I've been on this journey for a while, and small things make me happy.  This was a shocking week.  I would have told you that I was doing GREAT managing my diabetes, but sadly, numbers don't lie...

Last week, I had blood work done.  Neither came out as I had hoped or expected.  Thursday, I had my lipids done.  Now, overall, my cardiac risk assessment is still good and within acceptable ranges, but I went from a 1.1 to a 4.3 with a total Cholesterol or 353.  Up almost 100 points from 2 years ago.

That leaves me to know that my blood sugars and my A1c, are not where they should be, so I tested that.  In March, I was a 6.5.  My goal is always a sub 6.  But I've been good, or so I thought, and I know that wedding season is hard on me.  My results almost brought tears to my eyes, a 7.7! I can't even tell you the last time it's been that high!

So reality set in.  I've made excuses for the cake and goodies I've ate at weddings.  I convinced myself that the roller coaster I've been on with my BG hasn't been that bad, but numbers don't lie.  It's time for a wake up call!

As for Halloween, check out my 2 year transformation!  Thanks to my friend Amanda for the "gun show" pic!!
