The Taste of Wayzata

I recently had the opportunity to photograph a food walk with Lisa and Bethe of  "Taste of Wayzata", an incredible food tour of the charming lakeside city of Wayzata, Minnesota.  It was Lisa's birthday and Bethe had planned a food tour to celebrate the special event with Lisa's family and friends.

Our incredible evening started at 6Smith, located one of the docks of Lake Minnetonka.  After a few stunning and delicious appetizers, our mixologist, Ben, taught our group some of the finer points of cocktail mixing and then proceeded to show the group how to make Blueberry Yum-Yums, a sinful concoction of Blueberries, Aperol and Gin.  There's definitely a fun side of mixing drinks with 20 of your closest friends!

We then proceeded closer to downtown to our next location, Bellecour, a fun little French Bistro with some of the most tasty bread I've been lucky to have in the Twin Cities.  The group sampled French inspired morsels (can you say, Truffle Fries and Cordon Blue Croquettes?!!) and lovely French Wine.

The next location the group wandered to was The Dough Room.  This quaint place owes major kudos to Chef Alex Dayton, and is creative view of great food.  After choosing cocktails (I had a totally "out of the park" Old Fashioned!) and noshing on chewy, yet crispy bread the group fed happily on Braised Shortribs and whole roasted Bronzini, a type of European Sea Bass.  I'm rather a snob about Shortribs, and I will happily announce that these did not disappoint.  The sauce of reduced red wine, and the tenderness of the meat means that I will be returning in the near future.

Happily tipsy, our group went to our final tasting of the night at the NineTwentyFive (925).  Here we were treated to a private wine tasting in the establishments wine cellar before heading to the second level for a chance to taste more wine paired with a splendid charcuterie board of fine cheese, meats and spreads.
