The Emotions of a Picture
I decided that Thursdays I would do a "Throw Back Thursday" post. I'm going to re-share posts that are either important to me, or struck a chord with all of you. I will be using new keywords in 2015 to make it easier to find things. Personal means it's about me. Weddings, obviously will be about Weddings. There will be similar keywords for Engagements, Family and Specials. It's all in hopes of having your time on my website be a little bit more enjoyable, a little more easier to find what you're looking for.
This first #TBT is my VERY first post on my website, written almost 2 years ago. The picture, still chokes me up. My baby boy is fine, in all sense of the word, but at the moment this picture was taken, my life was on hold. Jack Jablonski, the young man from Benilde-St.Marget was seriously injured by a freak hit in hockey and was paralyzed (Read about him here: http://www.jabby13.com/) All I could think about, and was screaming in my head was, "GET UP, SEAN!" And in my mind, I repeated it over and over, until he did, stand up and walk off the field under his own power. Even now, more that 2 years after the fact, writing these words has put tears in my eyes.
The Emotion of a Picture
On a cold and rainy afternoon, October 6th, my son was injured in a football game. I couldn't do anything while he laid out on the cold, wet field. I couldn't run out there, I was a parent, and needed to let the refs, coaches, and eventually the EMT do what they needed to.
It seemed like a lifetime, while in actuality in was only 15-20 minutes; moments in time with me thinking, "move Sean, come on, MOVE!" So I did the only thing I could do, I prayed and took pictures. After we got home from the ER, and for several days, I couldn't look at the pictures I had taken, not even the one with him stumbling off the field under his own power.
It took me 4 days to be able to download this, and when I did, I cried. Tears of worry; tears of relief; tears of joy, but still tears. Pictures of all types can carry emotions. There are happy pictures (weddings, new babies, birthday parties), there are sad pictures (good byes, endings, etc.). Pictures give depth and validation to your memories. I'm glad to be able to capture my Memories...
